Just standing around
You’ve seen the articles, probably, about how sitting all day is horrible for you and that we all need to stand more. There are standing desks for sale, but they’re very expensive for the most part and anyway, my company certainly isn’t going to buy one for me.
I decided to build a little podium table, if you will, that I can put on my work table and use it to hold my laptop while I stand for a while. It’s not perfect … that would require a separate monitor that could be raised to eye level … but it does get me off my butt and hopefully burning a few extra calories to boot!
I’ve used it sporadically in the past. This week, my goal is to start using it much more often. Unfortunately, I’m not in the office every day this week, but I’m going to start with two hours standing and see if I can work up to four hours a day. Spreading it throughout the day is fine, but all in one go would be OK, too.
It might be time for some gel inserts for my dress shoes 🙂
