IDRS 2012 Day -2

Day -2?  Yes, the conference doesn’t start until Saturday, but I started the trip on Thursday after work.  My goal was to leave town by 4pm, and I succeeded with 4 minutes to spare.  Traffic was medium heavy until I got to Albany, and then it was quite heavy for about 15-20 miles but moving normally.  Once I got past that point, it was very smooth sailing to the west side of Syracuse and my hotel for the night.

It wasn’t an ideal evening, as I didn’t get settled into the room until a bit after 9pm and therefore didn’t have the relaxing evening I would have preferred.  (By now, you’ve noticed the consistent use of the past tense and have inferred, correctly, that I’m writing this the next morning – after a not-so-great night of sleep.)

I have a long drive today, so now it’s off for a quick pass at the free breakfast items, one more cup of coffee, brush the teeth, pack the little bit of stuff I got out last night, and hit the road.  I had wanted to be on the road by 8 at the latest, and I should be out of here by 7:45 at least.  No problem!

But it will be a long drive today, so lots of caffeine is in store for me, I think!
