Looking ahead
Not that I don’t love Winter, but it’s good to see that Spring has finally arrived here in the Northeast! And with Spring come dreams of getting away, by myself, in the car for a long trip or two.
In early May, I’ll be heading to Cleveland for a three-day trip to move Ian home from college. There are several reasons why I’m looking forward to that trip:
- Because he has a car at school now, I haven’t been ferrying him back and forth for vacations; this is the first road trip for me to Cleveland since last August!
- It will be the first long drive in my new car (new to me, at least) and I really am looking forward to the improved experience and vastly improved gas mileage 🙂
- Dinner and beers at Winking Lizard … enough said!
- Most of a day to myself, just lounging around the hotel reading, watching movies, and learning more about Adobe Premiere Pro (I had really been looking forward to running down to Columbus to see Stephanie, but she will actually be living at our house that week because she’s hanging around Massachusetts to see her boyfriend graduate from college :-P)
But what I’m especially looking forward to is a road trip in mid-July. I’m planning to first hit Maumee Bay Brewpub in Toledo, a place I stopped at last summer en route to Indiana and thoroughly enjoyed. Then, it’s on to western Michigan to spend a day exploring the lakeshore. With a little luck, I’ll be able to also see Stephanie that day and spend a few hours exploring together 🙂 On the way back home, I’ll be seeing my old grad school friend Beth in East Lansing. It should be a fantastic five days!
I’m sure there will be other little pleasures here and there this summer, but these are the two I’m most excited about at the moment. Tune in later for updates!
