Rotating the cars
Every few months, the stars and planets align and it’s time to get all three vehicles in for service at the same time. It’s sort of dance-like, and here’s how it works:
- The ‘04 Elantra only needs an oil change and multi-point inspection (essential given its mileage), so it’s in first and I’m waiting for it. Once it’s finished, I run it home and return with …
- The ’07 Santa Fe is due for 80K service which isn’t a big one, but it does need the tires rotated and balanced. When it’s dropped off, I’ll pick up a rental car from Enterprise across the street and head into work. At the end of my day, I’ll stop at home to pick up …
- The ’02 Elantra. It will sit in the service lot overnight and I’ll take the Santa Fe back home with me so that Haley will have it to drive on Tuesday. The ’02 is the big question mark – it has a long-standing issue with hesitation after a cold start. Because the hesitation won’t occur if the engine has been running more than a few seconds, the shop may need to keep it for a couple of days to troubleshoot the problem. I’m hoping they’ll find something quickly and we’ll get the car back Tuesday so that I can return the rental!
It’s been almost a year since all three cars have been in the same week. What fun!
