Really, is all this rain really necessary?
I’ve been trying to finish staining the back deck railings for a couple of weeks now. The wood needs to be dry for at least 48 hours before staining, and the product’s recommendation is that it not get wet again for at least 24 hours after staining. The 48-hour window of dryness is particularly important given that this is old wood which hasn’t been staining in several years, so any rain that touches it gets sucked right in!
All I need is four days in a row without rain. Actually, let’s say six days, because I can really only put up with this job for about two hours at a time and I have five or six hours to finish up everything.
Honestly, is it too much to ask for at least four and preferably six days in a row of dry weather? Apparently it is …
