Of Spring, Colds, and Yard Work
Spring might have arrived in its entirety at last. It’s been poking its nose in the door of our neighborhood for a few weeks now, but I’m confident that last night’s below-freezing temperatures were the last until the end of the year. Our grass is greening, the forsythia bushes are in bloom, and its time to finish up the winter cleanup in the yard.
Unfortunately, this past couple of weeks has been tough on health around here. Not at our house necessarily, but in general people have been sicker than in past months. Some at work have been out with pneumonia, my son had a head cold that kept him out of school (but only for one day), and I got a sinus infection requiring antibiotics. I’m recovering quite nicely, thank you, but now am dealing with what I call antibiotic fatigue, a loss of energy each day which will continue until I am done with the 10-day regimen.
Today, Good Friday, is a work holiday for me. I was hoping to spend today and tomorrow basically resting, putting off the necessary yard work (which is already past due because I was sick last weekend and during the week) until Sunday. However, today is also going to be the only sunny, dry day of this long weekend!
Yard work it is, then. Perhaps I’ll even try to get the awning up over the back deck. Maybe.
